Safety in the Spotlight!

Geplaatst op: 24 June 2025

This week, safety was once again in the spotlight!

On Tuesday, we concluded an intensive safety program at Vanderlande. It was a fantastic collaboration, where our Safety Escape Room served as a powerful kick-off for a long-term and in-depth training trajectory.

On Thursday, we traveled to Belgium to visit no less than two Oleon sites. Our southern neighbors were also extremely enthusiastic! Where HSE managers normally have to convince their colleagues to participate in safety training, employees now came of their own accord and full of motivation.

And you can’t blame them — a safety training in the form of an escape room is certainly a unique experience!

Safety Awareness that Sticks

We have no doubt: our Escape Room Awareness Training makes an impression. Not only through the excitement and interaction, but especially because the experience continues to resonate. By confronting participants with realistic emergency situations and difficult choices under time pressure, we bring safety to life in a way that truly sticks.

Awareness as a Foundation

A strong safety culture begins with awareness. Colleagues who realize that they are responsible for each other’s safety, that’s the foundation. But that culture doesn’t develop on its own.

With our approach, we take concrete steps on the Safety Culture Ladder.

How do we do that?

  • We create a safe, playful environment in which participants are encouraged to make mistakes.
  • We observe behavior, communication, and teamwork.
  • After the game, an in-depth discussion follows: what went wrong? What can we learn from this?
  • Questions like “Why wasn’t the incident reported?” or “Why didn’t anyone intervene?” are discussed.

An Experience that Lasts

The escape room provides a unique and impactful moment. Participants experience for themselves how difficult it is to make the right safety decisions under pressure. And that ensures the training is not quickly forgotten! In fact, it continues to be discussed on the work floor for a long time.

This week was a great reminder that safety is alive, if you know how to present it in the right way. With our trainings, we bring safety back to where it belongs: top of mind. Every day, in every workplace.
